Editorial independence
Trust only works if readers know who is influencing what they read.
What Health Check is editorially independent of the health-check companies and healthcare providers featured on the site.
The editorial team determines what is covered, how services are compared and what conclusions are reached.
Providers cannot buy a better review
A commercial relationship will never entitle a provider to:
- a favourable review or rating;
- a higher editorial score;
- removal of legitimate criticism;
- preferential treatment within the comparison methodology;
- approval of editorial conclusions before publication.
Paid or sponsored content will always be clearly identified.
Complimentary health checks
Providers may allow journalists or expert contributors to experience assessments free of charge for review purposes.
This will always be disclosed and does not buy positive coverage.
Affiliate relationships
What Health Check may receive a commission if somebody follows a link from the site and subsequently books a health check.
This revenue helps fund journalism, research and maintenance of the comparison database.
Whether a provider pays us a commission does not determine our editorial assessment of its services.
Some recommended providers may pay commission and others may not, and providers with commercial relationships may still receive criticism.
Corrections
Accuracy matters. Providers and readers can report factual inaccuracies, which will be investigated and corrected where appropriate.
Legitimate editorial opinions will not be removed simply because a provider disagrees with them.
